1973: why tray or glove box?

    i have notice some 1973 mavs have gloveboxes and some have trays:huh: .why is this??? start firing experts:yikes:

    I believe it was a mid year change. Guess some Ford exect didnt like the package tray.

    My guess is that Ford used package trays until they exhausted inventory and then rolled out the glove box. No 1973 documents show them with a package tray but we all know they do exist ... I'm sure they are all early model year builds ...

    I like the tray myself. Adds to the "No Frills" feel.

    I went with the tray in my 74 as well ... for that feeling of nostalgia!

    I like the tray in mine too, not like I had a choice though. I think its a unique feature that I havent really seen on any others cars that I can think of.:huh:

    Two 1973 LDO Mavericks (one 4 Drag one 4 driving like Mad on the roads :) ) also have a 75 6cyl Stock! Ok, well sort of Stock :P
    like they said 73s have both...

    i have two 73's one has glove the other tray (with a from the factory center consel and clock :D ).

    most likey if your car was made in late 72 they called it a 73

    i call my 73 a left over 72 ;)

    My car is a late '72 and has a seatbelt warning light in the dash, which no others years have includeing early 72's. Late '72/early '73 was a strange time for Mavericks.

    Have you seen the prices of those consolettes?

    That's why they started making the gloveboxes. Ford
    saw it coming and hoarded all the consolettes to sell
    on E-bay 33 years later!

    :rofl2: yeah they are worth more then the car!

    i can see it now one consolette, two boomarags, grill, and grabber spoiler. will cost you your whole reitrement!
