You should be proud of how nice that came out, and with over a month to spare! I LOVE seeing freshly detailed engine compartments...

Thank you Paul, I appreciate that. It's such an improvement over the black engine bay. Everything was so bright with it out in the sun. Still have lots to do though, feeling a little stressed.

I can't handle all the ups and downs of this project, ugh. Drove the car about 10 miles today, seems to run pretty good, but it runs rough and misfires at idle. Then it smooths out, the it idles rough. Carb issue I believe, maybe float level is off. Temp stayed at 175 but my valve cover was almost too hot to touch, don't remember that from before. I'm hearing all sorts of noises, I can't help but to be concerned about every little thing I hear. The power steering pump needs to go, its from the 76 and it's starting to make noise. I will put my old one back, but I used to run ps fluid and have switched over to trans fluid. Not sure what that will do. Something else is noisy in the front of the motor but I can't pin point it or desribe it, might be nothing. The biggest concern is a noise I had mentioned before about when I made a U turn. I can make it do it now and it sounds like a steady chirping when Im on the gas had from a stop. It goes away as the load is reduced. I still think its coming from the trans, maybe the band?

On a brighter note, I finished putting the grille back and connecting all the lights, everything works. I gave it a bath, will start buffing the paint this weekend, its full of overspray.

The Maverick emblem didnt look like it was in the right place in this pic.

I moved it in this one.

This car is just soooo damned nice that I'm starting to overlook those big bumpers the more I see it. :p

As for the rough running?.. have you read the plugs after all the ignition tuning you did?

I have had the car so long that it wouldnt be right to change the bumpers now.

No, I haven't pulled the plugs to look yet. I have it running pretty good, so Im tending to the long list of cosmetic things. I occasionally do a little mechanical stuff to keep from burning out. Swapping the starter and the power steering pump are on the immediate list. They are making the most noise, lol. I might pull one today, since you mentioned it. Im afraid of running to lean.

Speaking of which, I can turn the mixture screw all the way in and the car keeps running. A tad rough, but not even close to stalling. Is that a sign of improper float level?
