Thanks for the pictures!!! Now, that doesn't look that tight. Were there firewall modifications? The 300 should fit with a small block bellhousing. What did that car run? Where is it from?
There is a mav that runs at my local track with a 300. Its called the mad frenchmen does a cool 2 ft wheelie of the line and runs low 10`s in the 1/4 on all motor. I wll see if I can find pics. Heres what I found so far.
looks good in there, ive seen that pic before i bet there is tons more work than what it look likes 10s wow , not bad for an ole BB6
Is that car and the blue one from 2004 roundup the same car with a different paint job or are they two different cars? Okay, who has a spare 300 that they want to part with?
Note that that blue car had "H/MP" on the window. This was the class in the now-defunct Modified Production category that was home to straight sixes. My Dad ran a '65 Falcon with a 300" six in that class back in '70-'72. It was an 11 flat car at about 117-119 mph. 300 crank with 240 rods and custom pistons. Heavily ported head with 2.19 intakes and 1.66 exhausts, triple springs, flat tappet cam (he didn't have the big bucks for a roller cam way back then), Clifford Research intake with three Weber 48IDA downdrafts backed by a Super T10 four speed and a Dana 60 rear end. Won the Division 4 title in '71 and held the record for a brief period in '71. The 300 will go in there with minimal modifications. If you can hack the shock towers for a Windsor or Cleveland then you can do this one. You just have to drop the engine in there and start looking around.
Actually I was thinking I need one more car, not one less, that's my problem. I need a '71 manual car that I don't feel bad about notching. My only manual car is my '70 Grabber which I just want to restore and not cut. Maybe I will have to get a 300 for my 69.5 that is having the strut front end done now(down to very minimal shock towers) and try that out instead of the 393C first since I already have one car with a C in it. I just can't get one project done before I want to do another. I did notice the class letters on the first pictures, but is it the same car or not?
whats up with one w/ the 351w? dont be scared about notching ( i am assuming you talking towers?) its a very helpful upgrade unless your do concourse restore
There websight is beaversprings .com. That should help you. He runs that maverick at island dragway in jersey to. Thats the closer one to me.
I am definitely not scared about notching(or removing for that matter). The '70 Grabber is just an unmolested TN car that is yellow with a black stripe and a black interior and I would like to see it restored. The '72 Grabber with the 351W could certainly be notched and the 300 could go in there, but then my 351W plans get put off again. I think we will notch that car regardless just for space. A 351W(made into a 408) was originally going in my 69.5, but then I got the '72 with the 351C and changed my mind to put a 393C in the 69.5. I am just an indecisive girl, what do you expect?
wow a girl has all those mavs will you marry me yeah 393C should very cool , that thing is goin to fly :evilsmile check ebay , they have long blocks i think for like 1000-1200 do you plan on building it up or just slappin it in there?
Sorry, already have a "crew chief". We always will build them up, we don't buy set-ups for a new motor. I have 2 351C blocks and 2 351W blocks, now I just have to make some decisions. I just start to figure it out and then I go down a new road, like "maybe I should get a 300".
Guess what we drug home today? A 300 six cylinder to go in Maverick number 6(I will be picking the car up next week)! Maybe in about 5 years, I will have a fleet. At least 50% are running and driving at all times, that always helps me justifies all of the "projects". We try not to have more in cars in pieces than ones driving.
