Actually thats not true. In 65 & 66 the 352 was the only FE option. Then from 67 to 77 the 352, 360, and 390 were all available in the trucks. You'd have to get casting numbers to verify what it is.
Yea,but he said '70-ish truck, last 352's put in were around '68 or '69,from there on out the 360 replaced the 352.All FE blocks (except for the more exotic)had 352 stamped on the front of the block-even 428s.In the later years casting # got a bit vague(I've got an FE from a truck-no # on the block except for the "352" cast on the front)and 360/390 uses the same block. You almost have to take off the oilpan & check the rod # to tell a 360 from a 390.Anyone who has tried to sell me a "390" out of a truck-and later it gets torn down by them or another buyer, turns out to be a 360.
I agree with Tim. around here there were more 360 truck engines than 390's. I have a 73 Ford truck that was a 360 but now has a 428 in it. 360 is in the barn. I'll say it will probably stay there since no one wants a 360. Earlier trucks had more 352's than 390's. Although my cousin had an all orginal 66 F100 that came with a 352 he installed a 427 2 4 barrels I drove this truck to Conway SC in the rain. Sure don't have that much nerve now.
