Well the stroker kit from Scat came with a 9000 crank,not totally forged, but sufficiant as stated by Scat,s tech people. They were told No power adders.It was just easier to say all forged internals.The pistons are forged Probe , rods H beam Scat. Canton girdle. All ARP bolts every where. comp endure-x roller lifters.Not all of the very best parts but not the cheap stuff either. Just keeping my fingers crossed with the block.If I crack the block, then I won't fool around with a stock block the second time. after market for sure. Thks Ron
Sorry Alex but at this time I'm not planning on tearing down the motor. It's the original numbers matching block that came in the car from Ford. No problems with the motor, just not enough get up and go for this old fart.

I agree with you GT. my 347 was in my mustang for 3 years daily drivin to work to the beach to the races and so on...and there was a point where we were racing it every weekend with spray...never hurt the motor once, the only reason i took it all apart was because i sold the car and was going to put the motor in one of my maverick projects and i just wanted to assure myself that everything was ok. sure enough everything was not only fine but great!!!! still a perfect cross hatch in the bores and everything else looked almost brand new with no wear except for one slightly bent intake valve oops lol...but other than that everything looked awesome, cant wait to put it in the race car this summer FYI motor was just pulled off the dyno last week with only new bearings on the bottom end and cam bearings rings and everything else the same old hard parts, motor made 537hp and 492tq this is a stock block 342 standard bore H beam rod, 4340 eagle crank, probe piston, victor jr heads, custom grind .630+ lift cam, parker funnel, and a 750 holley dp. The top end has been changed from the earlier set up it was EFI before in my mustang. still the stock block with valley girdle pro's up top and probe girdle down low. there is nothing wrong with a 347 its a myth
you say its a myth(331 lasting longer than 347), but then you said it may last 2000 miles longer, that is not sticking buy your answer, so dont go off on baddad about how your right he's wrong because you just stated two opposite things that you "stand by". and you fordman your saying show your work this and that and how many engines have you built blah blah blah, but you just said you dont build race engines, so you have no room to talk and ask him to caugh up some evidence of his engines, he never said he builds race engines, hes giving me some advise on my questions, you have done nothing to help this thread or my question. so if you can go bother a different thread that would be nice.
Wow, Shake my head. Thought I was on a call of duty forum?? The powers in the heads when your talking small block Fords. All these guys arguing with each other know that. Get yourself some decent heads,cam and all the other goodies that match. Converter,gears,trans kit,exhaust,some sort of 2 wheel traction in the back,caltracs,tires, the list just grows and grows. Where do you want to stop?? Bang for the buck your biggest hp gain is in the heads with or without a stroker. Heads are a good start but you have to make everything match. Personally I wouldnt waste my time and money on a stroker 302 in MY car. If I was spending money on a stroker it would be 351 based for a street car. Lots of cubes and torque without going crazy on cam specs etc. and killing the driveability. THAT IS FOR MYSELF AND MY CAR. You have a ton of choices to make for your own car.

I dont have much experience with all the different aluminum heads out there now. It really depends how far you want to go with an engine. Skies the limit. My small block Ford history comes from building iron heads in the past. Its not worth the time and money any more though. The aluminum heads flow much better generally speaking over the modified factory iron and the price has come down. The AFR's do get a lot of attention on here I have found. Research some 5.0 forums. I bet you find more cylinder head info than you can read.
