Hey does anyone know if the 302 motor mounts work on a 351? And if it bolts to a c-4? And lastly......is it worth upgrading the motor......or keep 302 and just go FI? Hmmmmmm? Suggestions???????

Most folks in the know would recommend stroking a 302 to 347 c.i. to get the same results. Some have said you can't pull the heads on a 351 once the engine is installed. Having said that, search "351" in the search function to get tips on how to do it.

Motor mounts and trans will work with the 351. How much power are you trying to make? If you're trying to make more than 500hp, I'd go for the 351 just for block strength. If staying under 500 keep the 302 for simplicity.

My own opinion on fuel injection is that you would first spend money on electronic ignition, a 4 bbl carb and manifold, headers, dual exhaust, aluminum heads, hotter cam, and a disc brake conversion to keep it all safe. Then, when that's all done you would add fuel injection for better driveability. Maybe your engine is already at that stage?

    Been there done that!!!

Had a 351W and changed to a 302. Engine mounts and c4 trans will bolt up. Headers are difficult and the correct flex plate needs to be installed.

The spring towers will have to be cut back to make room. If you don't do that, changing spark plugs will be impossible and exhaust will be a nightmare.

Hey Frank. Phat Mav's profile page mentioned his 302 spun a bearing. Phat Mav, if that's the case you'll have the option to get the crank re-ground and install oversized bearings or else order a stroker kit for a larger displacement and you'll be supplied with a new crank. Clearancing the block with a grinder may be necessary to avoid hitting the block with the rod bolts. Check out Summit Racing for Scat and Eagle stroker kits. Frank (71 Gold) is the expert on EFI.

The May 2017 Car Craft (that's right ... May), did a story on Holley's new Sniper EFI. The ECM, manifold absolute pressure sensor, air inlet temperature sensor, and throttle position sensor are all located on or within the housing. According to Car Craft the price is just less than $1000.

FITech also has them around $800.

But i agree with the above.. unless an efi motor falls into your lap(not literally.. that would really hurt).. worry about the bigger bang for the buck stuff first. Same exact motor with fully streetable heads cam and intake would add more than 100 horsepower. Speed costs.. how fast you wanna go?
