M.A.V. has a tunnel ram on his engine now. He probably has too much engine for a Wiend Stealth. The Victor would be a good replacement for the tunnel ram.
i.m running the Wiend Stealth have no power problems at all shift at 6800 rpm..don't have any times yet but it moves 5-100 http://home.columbus.rr.com/maverickgrabber/5-100).wmv
Terry I`m talking about using the Victor jr. on my 393w thats going to be put in my car later on(now gathering parts). Right now the car has a 302 in it.
Well, kick me in the butt and call me Frank. I'll bet that I'm still right on that your engine needing more than a Stealth.
naaa if he is cranking it past 7000 rpm then yes but other then that the a Stealth or performer rpm would be better then even a tunnel ram but they do look sweet
I would be the first to agree with you Maverick Grabber... but my cousins Desk top dyno program actually shows the Tunnel ram making a little more horsepower on my 302 than a RPM or a Victor jr. at around 5,800 RPM ! I could hardly believe it. Also a quick note to anyone who has considered a Tunnel ram but thinks it wont run well on the street. I have 2 450 mechanical secondary Holleys on my Offenhauser Tunnel ram and the throttle response is Lightning quick at any RPM, and the car behaves just as well around town as it did with my Torquer intake and single 650dp Holley on it.
the Desk top dyno program works good...i have both the old dyno 2000 and dyno 2003 but you can take a stock 302 put it in the program and the more carb the more power it shows it making and we all know a 1100 cfm is way to much fuel for a stock 302 with stock heads its not a 100% Correct it works on the mith more is better and we know thats not always right was not saying a Tunnel ram is bad just unless your running it to 9000 rpm i think best would be a good single or dual plain
Yea I know the Desk top dyno isnt fool proof. I was just telling ya what it came up with. I will be running my car at the track some later this summer ,and maybe I`ll try a one carb set up on a performer RPM just to see a real world comparison. Right now I know the car doesnt have the best combo for all out performance (not enough compression for one thing) But For now its really fun to drive ,I never have to "mess" with it to keep it reliable ,and I have alot of fun riding around town in it and going to cruises ect. The Tunnel ram Gets ALOT of "Aw Man look at that!" reactions everywhere I go and thats Fun . Maverick Man can back me up on this from his results of the Big dual port injection scoop thingy he had on his car for a while last year
Actually, one of the magazines, I think either Hot Rod or Popular Hot Rodding, it may even have been Mustang & Fords, I don't exactly recall, did a comparison of several intake and carb combinations on a small block engine about a year ago or so. The combo that made the most power and the most all around for a street engine was the Summit Tunnel Ram manifold and two small Holley's. I will try and find the article. I remember the overall winner but not the rest of the contestants. Heck, I am 45 and have four daughters. I can't remember everything. Here's the link to the article. It was Hot Rod. You'll have to scroll down and read each part entitled "Carburetor Shootout." On each portion of the series, scroll down to read the power made. I hope to eventually find the issue that the article appeared. http://www.hotrod.com/searchresults/?scope=T&sitename=hotrod&terms=Carburetor+Shootout&x=9&y=8
Yep ,I have that magazine ...I was actually surprised at the results of those tests ,because it goes against everything the Magazine guys usually say about running A Tunnel ram . Thanks for posting that Terry.
mike, a guy told me yesterday, he saw your "blower" set up. said it had a belt driving it that looked like a goodyear tire. (did you change something )? ...frank...
Nope Frank ,Havent changed a thing...the only belt on my engine drives the water pump, and the Alternator. Maybe he is ANOTHER one of those guys who will argue me down that my car has a BLOWER on it lol
