not certain , only seen what i've seen - i'd like to confirm if possible with "factual" info
    .
the three vs four brake plate bolts for 6 or 8 and Disc or Drum and changes in mid '74 is whats confusing...
    .
Maverick pre mid '74 6/8 Drum Spindles are the same (?) and spindles all have four retaining bolts ?
Maverick pre mid '74 (V8) Disc spindles all have three brake plate bolts?

Mid 74 and later 6/8 cars all have the "Granada" 5 lug DISC spindles and all have THREE bolt plate AND the hub/bearing size enlarges ?.
    .
Early (pre- mid 74) Ford 5 lug wheels all (?) have the smaller center hole for smaller pre '74 hub/bearing size (?) ( and less offset wheels for drum brakes )
    .
    '71 Maverick 4 lug spindles

I suspect all drum spindles used for Fairlane, Torino, Falcon, Mustang (thru '73) and Maverick are same. Four bolts are required as the backing plate secures brake shoes. On disc brakes caliper is bolted directly to spindle, backing plate is nothing more than splash/dust shield, three bolts are plenty, I used '69 Torino discs on my Comet (pictured). Found one was small bearing and other was large. Only difference is bearings, rotors are same for either.

There's note in Master Parts to beware of bearing size as Ford was suppling the large bearing spindle for replacement.

I forgot to mention, when I installed the Torino brakes on mine, I'd checked drum part numbers for '71 Torino & '71 Maverick. They are same, I figured since drum could swap, was no reason I could not use the Torino disc. I now know of a '69 Mustang that has Granada brakes.

The '67, four piston disc brakes will bolt to later drum spindles, have a set on my '69 Fairlane.
