    I have a 4 wire harness on my 70 Maverick which goes from the fuse box along the drivers side, across the front of the vehicle, and back to the voltage regulator/starter solenoid/battery area. I'm trying to figure out where the wires go, here is what I have;

brown wire (has elbow connector on it- assuming it goes to the starter solenoid)
green/red wire (no connector on it)
red/blue wire (no connector on it) -starter (S) side of starter solenoid?
Black/yellow wire (no connector on it)-Battery side of starter solenoid?

I've looked at the wire diagram to what I have, it doesn't make sense.
No, I am not an electrician, :biglaugh:

    Thanks for the help,
    Mark

I hear you mercgt73, but the schematic and the actual doesn't add up. The brown wire and the red/green wire are really throwing me off.

    Gotcha.

The brown wire goes on the I terminal of the starter solenoid.

The green with red stripe wire goes to the I terminal of the voltage regulator.

Red with blue stripe goes to the S terminal of the starter solenoid (see above pic).

But doesnt one of those 4 wires tie into the alternator regulator to alternator harness?

Not according to the wires you listed. The green with red stripe ends up on the regulator I terminal. It could get there bundled with the harness. As long as it gets there, you are good.

I told you wrong. The brown from the fuse box goes to the parking lights. The brown from the solenoid goes to the coil.

Also, make sure you are listing the wire colors correctly. It is used as COLOR with COLOR trace (stripe).

So red with green is different than green with red.

it is definitely green with red strip.

do the parking light wires have a connector like those which go to the "I" and "S" of the starter relay?

From the firewall bulk head, the brown wire splices into another brown wire. Not sure where, though. Looks like it should splice in somewhere near the drivers side parking light.

OK, on the driver side, there are 2 wires that come out of the harness (brown and green/white) with ends cut off. They go to what could be the drivers side parking light.

Sounds like you've got quite a cut up harness there, lol.

The brown wire is the parking light and green/white is the left turn signal wire. The brown wire circuit should also go to the drivers side marker. It also needs to go over to the passenger side parking lights.
