    Why would they leave the battery up front? Even back in the day, that was the first thing moved.

    I actually owned most of one back in the 70's. Bought it off of an A/FD racer named Frank Jarvis in Barberton, Ohio. It had a Hilborn mechanical injection system and had been run on nitro. Only thing I didn't have was the block, as the high nickel blocks were even growing scarce back then. I was going to put it in a drag boat, but later decided to go with a 460 based motor. Sold it to a tractor puller.
