69 Mad Maverick Hot Wheels Pin

    I know many of you guys know the story behind the mad maverick, has anyone ever heard of a mad maverick pin?

    Mattel was going to call the "Mighty Maverick" the "Mad Maverick" but Johnny Lightning beat them to the retail stores, using that name, forcing a last minute change. The chassis that say "Mad Maverick" are very rare .... Prototype only, I believe. The available details on the badges are a little sketchy, but I seem to recall a conversation that some early "Mighty Mavericks" were released with this pin because of the scramble to change the name, and badges were already made. The proper change to the badge was later than the first retail release. Still, this would also be an uncommon find.

    Is this yours? It looks to have never had the tab bent down, which likely saved it. Many badges were probably thrown out after the tab being folded too many times.

    Had forgotten all about those pins. I remember having them, not sure I had a Maverick one though!
