More stripping, priming and blocking. Doors and hood this week. Front fenders and trunk lid next week, hopefully.
No lie, this was in a fortune cookie I got with my lunch yesterday. Not sure how soon "soon" is though. Still prepping for paint. One more round of blocking on the deck lid and then assembly and a final overall sand with 600 grit wet. Hope to be putting color and clear on everything within two weeks.
I hung the doors and front fenders today and massaged the panel gaps as best I could. I still have a lot of wet sanding to do before I spray color.
After a lot of blood, sweat and swears (and help from my brother) the engine and transmission are back in.
I've spent the last several weeks on reassembly and was able to run it up to temperature and check for any leaks, unusual noises or weird smells. Everything works as it should - no overheating, the ECU controlled fan comes on when it should, oil pressure is good, etc.
Since I will be using the space formerly occupied by the A/C center vent for the stereo, I needed a place for the VintageAir A/C controls and a couple of the A/C vents. I decided a center stack was in order. I used brake line to form the frame and then speaker cloth, fiberglass and filler. Still some finishing to do but it seems to work well. I still need to fabricate some under-dash panels.
Lots of little details (and an interior) yet to do but it just needs insurance and tags to be on the road.
