I gotta agree. 6 cylinders are good for economical daily drivers, that's about all. You put the same amount of money into a 302 as you would a 6 cylinder trying to make it fast, the 302 is still going to spank the 6.
Yea,you could put on one of those new aluminum heads,4bbl carb, header, cam, gears, stall and you'll run about a second slower than a stock 5.0 roller:16suspect.Won't be huntin' many v8s,unless that one guy puts the 255 in..
Too bad the Marti report didn't break down how many GT's had the 6-cyl. I'm sure it's miniscule and it would be very interesting to know. Everyone else is right, for sheer enjoyment, you can't beat going with a V8, but some rare combinations make for more attention and even value when left stock. 6-cyl's and 4-doors rarely do, but it's POSSIBLE. It's your car - you do what makes you happy.
You probably already know ... but Marti can do custom reports for just that type of info .... but cost extra $$$
Looks to me like it says that there were 16,393 with the 200 six and C-4 auto Isn't that saying that his car was 1 of 16,393 Comet GT's with the 200 I6 and a C4?? or is that the total # of Comets (not just GT's) that were built that year???
Comet GT did not have a unique body code ... so all the numbers indicated there are for ALL 2-DOOR 1971 COMETS .... not COMET GT's ... there were 13,677 COMET GT's in 1971 as per that report. GRABBERS were a unique body code ... so if you look at the report for my car ... those numbers are specifically for 71 GRabbers.
