Depends on a lot of factors. How much rust, how long has it been "sitting". How deep are your pockets, etc.

Mavericks are not "investments". They are money-pits. It has to be a labor of love, or you're wasting your time & money.

Old cars aren't for everyone, but the people here have that sort of personality. We love old cars (and Mavericks/Comets, obviously). You're welcome to join the insanity if you like.

as soon as I saw the word investment this is the same thing I thought investment? where? in a maverick or comet? and worth it? NAH CANT BE lol

these cars are definitely awesome when fixed up but are more money pits than they will ever be an investment.
the truth is these were meant to drivin until they died then thrown away or left to rot where they broke down.

He has honored you with something that was special to him and if a lot of work excites you, he made a wise decision. A lot of people here are passionate about their cars regardless of the cost. The sense of pride and accomplishment you can get from keeping one of these rods on the road is definitely worth the investment in my opinion. Post lots of pics and ask questions when you get started. Welcome to the site!
