Can a 250 I6 Maverick race a stock 86 Monte Carlo with a chance of winning? Cuz the Monte Carlo is pretty fast.

i had to take my old bench seat to the dump cause nobody would take it....

i'd swich to a 302. my car use to be a 250 six cyl but it will be a loooooot cheaper to build up a 302 than a six cyl.

heres some places you can get hi performance parts for the six though.

Matt, being 16 and in a historical (and awesome) vehicle, is insurance for you ridiculously high priced?

Hey welcome from florida... Im 16 so i know just how that was i was always hoping to get my dads old 70-71 torino but its sat so long it turned in to a rust bucket so were going to start selling parts off it for my maverick. I just wanted something diffrent since i live in a red neck town with a bunch of liftd 4 wheel drives and reble flags. But my dads friend had this mav. for 310 buck with barly any rust except for the fenders since i dont belive they had splash gaurds. If you have any questions i know everyone is willing to help with what we know.
    thanks.

Pour a cup of water into the cowl (vent between the hood and windshield) If the water comes out on the floor in the car...cowls are rotted...Or windshield weather stripping leaks.Thats what got the floors in my blue mav, dang weather stripping!!!Floors are not to hard to fix...cowls are hard to fix.Good luck!!!

My floors were rotted likewise but no where as bad as some I've seen. If your cowls are bad, you'll need to do some form of repair to them.

    Check this thread out:

That's the best way, but I have seen in another post on here that someone is doing the repair by removing the dash and doing the work from underneath.

You're going to have to do a search for that one though as I have no idea which thread I saw it in.

:Welcome: from Michigan. See if you can recover your seats. Chances are a replacement will need to be recovered anyway. Good luck with your Maverick!

    :Welcome: to the boards!

That was probably me. I mentioned that the other day, but I haven't actually done it....yet. If there is another thread with detail, I'd be interested.

Alas, I fear that even the mighty big block six will not be enough to fell an 86 Monte(with a 305 I presume? Or did those come with 350s?)

Meh, either way, welcome from CA!

I've been trying to post a new thread/post but I can't find the thread starter button so I'm hoping enough people will read this.

I searched the posts for "Mavericks in the Media" because I thought it would be interesting to see how many Mavericks appeared in movies and videogames and what not.

So far what I've come up with was on King of the Hill, Hank went to a used auto dealer selling a Maverick, and in the videogame series Grand Theft Auto, some of my favorite cars seemed to be partially Maverick (For legal purposes they have to make the cars slightly different.) Those cars are the Clover (GtaSa) which is more of a '71 Dart Swinger, the Vigero (GtaIV) which is a Dodge Coronet with some Mav, and the Stallion (GtaIV) which people think is a GTO, but is obviously a later Maverick, which came with a Stallion paint package.
