Thanks for the suggestions. I am going to add the 72 decal to my 72 Grabber Clone. I put cheap side stripe Grabber stickers on and they had tons of bubbles. I spent hours puncturing all the bubbles and squeezing the water out. It actually turned out fine, the bubbles go away after the water dries. I will try your method on the hood sticker though, but my 72 car is a "10 footer" drag car anyways, so I don't care too much. My 71 will have the hood stripe painted on show quality...Dan, did you use a stencil on your 71 or did you have your painter mask it off?
Luckily when I put the stripes on my Grabber they laid down nice and smooth ... no bubbles there ... I used dish soap and water on them. I used Windex on the hood stripe as per the suggestion of a sign shop vinyl installer ... maybe I should have stuck with soap and water ... The person who painted my Grabber masked out the hood stripe by hand from pictures I took prior to it being painted ...
Hey Dan - How about an update on the hood decal application. Did the bubbles ever work themselves out?
I use baby shampoo and water as well, I've always heard never to use window cleaner, has something to do with the amonia in it. I've done quite a few decals, from a T/A hood to woodgrain, and a few ' 05 Mustang lemans type stripes, the only time I've had problems with it was if I didn't have enough shampoo in the water, but you don't want too much either. I also have used a mix of distilled water and rubbing alcohol, mainly for clear stickers like stone gaurd. No residue behind the clear sticker that way. Just wanted to put in my .
