    This is the most recent work, I have been working out platforms for the seats so I can use Mustang tracks rather than hunt down the proper parts. I have the passenger side made, just need to weld them in place. They are from a 70 Mustang best I can tell, my brother got them with a car and gave them to me. The console is out of a 1986 Mustang, it took some trimming but it will work out great for me. The shift lever is home built from a left over 5/8 rod I used to make drop rods for my gate. I welded some plate on one end, drilled/tapped the other and bent it in my press. Now for this please don't shoot me....the e-brake lever is from a Honda Civic.:( I was looking at Lokar but this one was similar and only $10.

    This is where I am on it but I have vowed to spend 1-2 hours per day off on it so I van make Power Tour before I turn 55. I have a stack of parts to fit so I should be able to keep busy and post regular update.

    I am, I was going to leave it stock but remembered I cut the brackets of under the car so I put it in the console.

    I consider the original pull handle parking brake cheezy at best(yes still in my Comet).

    Nice thing about those Stang consoles is they have a REAL arm rest...

    Allows for "recharging" the ole arm after a power shift session... ;)

    I had been asked in the past about my stand that I tipped the car on so I thought I would add it here. Stole the idea from a video on YouTube, basically three 2x6 bolted to the body allowing me to flip it on it's side. Made removing the undercoating so much easier. I used scrap pieces of steel to make brackets up front and bolted them to the bumper mounting captive nuts. In the back I used the holes for the bumper mounts and bolted the middle to the door hinges. I won't share the measurements because I missed by a long shot, had to shorten the middle board and shim up the outer leaving very little clearance from the floor.

    I have put my stand back to use and the car is on it's side again. I tipped it in the opposite direction this time so I could get to the places that were down low. While it's there I started making the modifications to run the Mustang fuel tank. I went with one from Tanks Inc. that is EFI ready, it was well worth the money in my opinion. I followed Mavaholic's instructions from this resource, https://mmb.maverick.to/resources/1971-1973-gas-tank-upgrade.137/ and all went well. One item he did not address that I bumped up against, the hole for the body plug in the trunk fouled the tank. My initial plan was to space the tank away from it and as usual, I over thought the issue and had several possible solutions that were more complicated than necessary. In the end I opened up the hole and filled it, way easier! I also started on rebuilding the tunnel brace I cut out when I raised the tunnel for the transmission. Still have a lot of welding to do and more pieces to make for the support but it is getting there.

    I had 1/2" tubes on top of the tank in this picture otherwise it would have been up against the opening.

    I have been doing a decent job of working on this regularly, it has just been tedious, boring stuff. A lot of the undercoat that was still on the car was really happy where it was and did not come off easily. I used Rustoleum rust convertor which is black and the top coat I plan to use is black so I dusted some gray primer on it so I can make sure I get good coverage. Pretty much done welding on the pans other than finishing the tunnel support rebuild and seat mount reinforcing. I guess I have the console mounts to weld in too but that stuff is minor compared to the pans and tunnel.
