wow that turned out so clean and so good. did you touch it up at all or just spray and go? what paint did you use for the engine bay?
the project made a giant leap forward front suspension and steering: with disc brakes: rear axle: again, disc brakes: some detailing, fuel lines: battery tray and motor mounts in place: and at least the rear wheels back on! i wasn't able to get the front springs in, i lacked a good spring compressor. but i'll lend one from a friend... more to come soon, stay tuned
more work done. i'm definitely not working full time on the car, but whenever i get into the flow, i get quite a lot accomplished front springs are in now: cleaned up the tank vent line - looks pretty good with all the zinc plated parts: gas tank is also in place: rear brake hose and more parts from the versailles brake, the dust shields are in: talking of the versailles rear brake - the hoses are out of production, and i was stuck with this: luckily i found a seller on ebay - brake hoses unlimited - who will build you any brake hose you want. but beware - the rear brake hose bracket is unique and you will need to reuse it. so i cut it off, opened up the mounting hole a little and had them zinc plated. here they are together with the new hoses: the fittings are not pressed but screwed in - looks fantastic! more to come, maybe i'll start with the brake lines on monday!
and today i was able to bend and flare the brake lines. i used a really good flaring tool which made the job pretty easy. this is what i used for the brake lines, pretty good stuff and easy to bend: http://www.cunifer.com/ i'm not completely done yet. i need to fab a bracket for an adjustable prop valve and also i need some more fittings... but i installed the versailles parking brake brackets, which i got from mean_maverick: more to come next weekend!
the brakes are still keeping me busy... put the front parking brake cable back in: i also cleaned and repainted the handle: the previous owner screwed up the versailles brakes big time. he used the wrong sized banjo bolts on the calipers. i have new calipers, but still had to find new banjo bolts. they have an odd sized thread, 7/16-24, opposed to the 7/16-20 UNF. but i got lucky at a harley shop: oh, and i have a rolling chassis now
