72 Mercury Comet GT in Germany

    Are you saying that the 71 had side markers that blink?

    that's my understanding of this wiring diagram:

    side markers have both brown (parking light) and white/lt.blue or lt.grn/white wires going to them, just as the front turn signals...

    That diagram sows the marker lights without a ground - they must ground through the other lights??

    paul, this struck me as a little odd, too. as i neither have a 71 trunk nor engine bay harness, i can't clarify this.

    fact is that i have two different sets of connectors, and the two extra wires are color coded for the turn signals:

    maybe i'll use these to completely convert my side markers to turn signals...

    1972 'Dk. Blue Met.', Color Code 3H
    I used the 'Dupont Automotive Refinish Color Chart' off ebay...
    From what I know this is the same color as 'Nighmist' or 'Presidential' used on Mustangs.

    Tody,
    Either way you want to do it is fine but one of the wires coming off the marker sockets will have to be grounded. You could add a diode and use it to conect the two wires and get the turn function when the lights are off and marker lights when the lights are on.
    If you decide to do that and need help with it I can help with the process.

    i just received some pictures by my friend who is building the engine for me. looks like he's doing a great job :dancing:
    5.0 HO block, 347 rotating assembly, 10,3:1 cr, 190cc procomp heads, E303 ford racing cam. should be more than enough power for a solid street motor...

    oooooh so pretty. 347 and 10.3:1 should be amazing. I just got done building my 331 with 8.7:1 compression and it's a beast.
