finally got a shifter that fits - a 69/70 mustang one. rebuilt it today and completely removed the shifter wobble with new bushings. i'm just not sure about the handle. i've got the chrome one, and a walnut one with a cobra insert. just can't decide which one to take! do we need a tech article on the shifter rebuild? http://www.72comet.de/gt/index.php?id=51
more bodywork done last week. the car went from this to this and from this to this so at least the rocker panels are fixed. more pics here: http://www.72comet.de/gt/index.php?id=54
also i tried to fix all the lights. some of my side markers were broken, but out of two broken ones i was able to fab one working lens: more pics here: http://www.72comet.de/gt/index.php?id=55
The true craftsman comes out in someone who can't just jump in their car, drive a few miles to a junk yard, and pick up another side marker light. Nice job
as in my "parts needed section"? AK calls it that, it's the cardboard which is placed under the rear window over the speakers...
ok, here's even more news! my brazilian tach arrived today. the front looked good, but the printed circuit on the back is a mess. so i need to use the remaining american parts and take only the brazilian speedo. not as easy as i would have thought, there are some differences. the outer dimensions are identical, but the speedo mount is different - vertical on the american version as opposed to diagonally on the brazilian one. mix matching the parts will somehow work, but the mounts for the fuel gauge are different, too - the american version is wider. but i guess i'll be able to dremel that. there's more minor differences, such as different positioning and labeling for the idiot lights. the remaining question will be - is the speedo cable going to fit? brazilian version is screwed on, american version is mounted with a plastic clip. i'll let you all know... here's one pic of the whole unit, more pictures on my website: http://www.72comet.de/gt/index.php?id=56
Holy Cats! ... rust inside under the headliner. Keep the faith ... looks like you are doing great work, and you have been an inspiration to keep me going with the minor stuff I have to deal with here.
Hello m8 I got a question for you.. Where did you buyed this tacho/speedo in km/h ? How many $ it cost if its not a secret ? And how to make a change[swap] tacho/speedo can you write any details?.. It was easy or there was some problems to do that.. ?
a friend of mine who is from brasil got it through here: http://veiculos.mercadolivre.com.br/acessorios/maverick i guess you need to speak portugese to buy some stuff over there. "velocimetro" means speedo, that's how i found ist. pictures of the installation are on my website!
