73 4 dr auto trans havin a hard time shiftin from 2nd to 3rd

    I bought a 73 4dr Maverick with a 250 ci and three speed auto.I did service the trans.Put in type F fluid.still havin troble with shifting.Not really sure how to adjust or fix problem.It is a c4 trans.any help would be appreciated.I love my car

    1966 Mustang, 1972, 73, 73 and 73 Mavericks
    Does it shift to third under any conditions or does it just go to "neutral or low gear without engine breaking?

    Some quick checks:
    Vacuum hose on the modulator - with manifold vacuum and no oil in the line.
    Does reverse work ok? - the same clutch pack (direct) is used for high and reverse.
    Fluid level correct at idle in Park?

    The reverse works fine,It jus dont wanna shift from 2nd to 3rd sometimes.I will take your advice.I do apperciate the reply:thumbs2: I did find oil in vacumn lines.Removed and changed modulator.Cleaned out lines(has two,one is main vacumn)And still having trouble with shifting.Acts like it falls to neutral before shifting.Any Advice would help.I may end up puttin a new one in.????
