What are you going to do for a gas tank?

I have the bottom mount tank...it will fit through the hole if I trim the sides of the opening 1/8"...the best thing to do is to find a drop in tank...here in Minnesota this item might be tough to find.......:hmmm:

Another thing to consider, 70's didn't have staggered rear shocks, like a 76 did.

If you want to keep the 76 staggered shocks, it might be as simple as buying later model staggered upper mounting brackets and grafting them into the 70's floor. Then they would match with your 76 lower mounting plates :)

The main reason I mention about converting the 70 floor over to staggered shocks is that members of this board, in the past, have talked about there being more advantages to the shocks being staggered opposed to the straight mounted shocks. I have only ever owned a 70 so I do not know what the differences are. Maybe search the subject matter and read more about it. :tiphat:

The staggered shocks are an attempt to fight wheel hop IIRC. Probably not that effective, and if you are running any kind of traction bars, etc. those would be a bigger help.

I think leaving might be easier too. It has been a long while since I even looked at traction bars, but I seem to remember some of the better ones having provisions for shocks, and I doubt any of those would be staggered.

My Lakewood bars will fit either bracket .....I will keep the shocks in the 70 configuration .....one more problem solved....
