OK guys I figured out the problem. I was able to tighten with advice from Ed (fan 2488). So I pulled the hubs to take another look. I looked in the Chiltons and it shows a parking brake link (a bar between the shoes with a spring on one end) My car does not have those. Does anyone have these laying around in your garage who may have done 5 lug conversions. I called the parts house and they said it is a junk yard piece. I need both sides with the springs. Why would anyone take these out? The nearest junk yard is 40 miles. Any help would be appreciated.
I don't know whatever became of your problem, but I NAPA 'might' have, or could get, what you need. Otherwise post a Wanted Ad in the classified section here (if you haven't already done so).
