I'm a little late on this one, but I just bought a 91 5.8L bronco with what I think is that same engines. Fantastic engines, 210 horse, and 310 torque. IT's essentially a bigger 5.0 with choked down e7 heads, as those are the same heads used on the 5.0 mustangs. Swap on a set of 96+ gt40 heads, and a hot intake, and you're gonna have a 300+horse engine with more torque than you could use. Hot little engine.
The only 5.8 roller that I know of at that time was the Lightning... Maybe this thing was either a Lightning service engine or a low mile salvage when it was put into service in the Bronco. The only real concern with using this engine in place of a standard truck V8 would be that it is not technically compatible with the SD system used on trucks other than the Lightning (MAF). Ford sells the conversion parts for the trucks, but they are about 600 bux. I think your reasoning for not using this in the Mav or F150 are both dead on considering your goals. Dave
