Hey guys been awhile since ive posted. Thought i would share my progress on my comet. I have done a lot of research and have not found anyone that has attempted this, but plenty of people said it wont work. Im nowhere near finished but it looks completely doable to me. I found this complete suspension on Craigslist for 100 and very adjustable coilovers on ebay for 350. I have a buddy helping me set it all up and weld it in. The only down side to all this is, this will increase the track width by 4 in. I can install foxbody arms and that will cut off approximately 2 in. So i may have to get high offset wheels and roll fenders but thats no big deal for me, im not looking for a stock look. Biggest motivation for me doing this is more room under the hood, and rack an pinion steering. 20170809_192315.jpg 20170810_115936.jpg 20170810_115901.jpg

Have you seen the AJE setup? It's very similar and uses Mustang parts.

Yes i have seen it. But its 2k for the set up and i dont like the tube style a whole lot. most of the parts they claim are exclusive to aje they say other parts dont fit? I like the idea of being able to stop at any old parts store and get a ball joint or control arm bushing if i need one instead of trying to figure out what the right part is and wait 2 weeks for it to arrive. I plan to drive this car not let it sit in the garage like most people do and i dont think aje control arm bushings will put up with it from what i have seen

If you use the mustang shock towers you can use mustang coil overs. And I honestly wonder if the fox arms would work. Youd be using the mustang spindles and brakes also.

They accepted my offer of $300 on this set of struts! they look fantastic, i just hope the proform the same lol.

We are custom fabricating shock towers.

Ive found a few people claiming they are running foxbody a-arms on their 99-04 mustangs so i think it should work but personally i have not tried yet. I think you have to put a 99-04 ball joint in the foxbody arms to get the knuckles to fit cause the struts set lower on the knuckles on newer mustangs.

It was quite difficult getting everything perfectly centered and getting wheel base just right but we got it and tacked it in. And i got to test fit the ls! Now to move on to cutting and building 20170815_192506.jpg IMG_20170815_211636_011.jpg 20170815_195438.jpg 20170815_192548.jpg towers.

Got some foxbody a arms which narrowed the track width and started on shock towers. So glad i have help with this! I have adjusted these struts out to factory length struts but i only have an inch of thread or less before they fall apart. So im not sure if i will end up using them or not. 20170825_201611.jpg 20170829_195041.jpg 20170829_195046.jpg 20170829_203344.jpg 20170829_203351.jpg 20170825_201611.jpg 20170829_195041.jpg 20170829_195046.jpg 20170829_203344.jpg 20170829_203351.jpg 20170825_201611.jpg 20170829_195041.jpg 20170829_195046.jpg 20170829_203344.jpg 20170829_203351.jpg

Are you converting to 5 lug or staying with 4? You may have posted it but I didn't go back and review.

The front of this car looks like it will be quite strong when it is done. Fabbing shock towers is a bit beyond my welding abilities, but I imagine saving a chunk of change by not going mustang 2 will cost some time and fabbing....but when you are done you will have mustang 5 !
