    I did this to mine last summer but used some hitch pin studs instead. Mine just help the prop rod do it's job. In October I was at a car show where the wind started gusting up, lawn chairs were blowing around, little kids had to be tied to trees to keep from blowing away, etc. My hood just stayed up nice and solid, the pins worked great.
