I want to put a teardrop hood scoop on a maverick, actually thought about putting it on my grabber hood but descided against it. Not that I mind cutting up a grabber hood :stirthepot: just didn't think it would look right...too busy.

I don't think the teardrop would work anyway, the scoop is a little too wide and won't fit between the grabber scoops. But I still want to put one on a flat hood.

    Check the picture galleries.
There are several cars there with Grabber hoods that have other things between them... scoops, carbs, blowers, etc...
    They all look goofy IMO.
Too much going on in that little bit of real estate.

All I can say is if you do it you better make sure YOU are going to like it enough to take all the flak that is going to be thrown at you. You are going to have to live with the results - both your hood and the jeers of those who think it is ugly and the purists who think you just screwed up the last Grabber hood in existance. ( I had a similar experience with the local Mustang club when I butchered the ONLY 289, 3spd, 2bbl carb, Brown 66 ever made.... When I put a custom dash in it - one that would hold all the gauges that I wanted. (I did butcher it but it looks good - just not stock)

You should have advertised the fact that you were going to do this.
Maybe one of the high brow purists would have traded you a much more common car for your one off.
Maybe a Boss 302 or one of the Shelbys! ;)
There were like 2000 times more of those made than yours!

I think that Ford made like 25000 brown, 2bbl, 3 spd, 289 66 Mustangs but those guys act like it was the only car that had that combination and I should have saved it for posterity. GIVE ME A BREAK! It had already been in two or three accidents when I got it and it had never been properly repaired. The left rear fender well (inner) doesn't meet the outer fender so from the trunk you can see the ground and the tire. I had to straighten the unibody so I could put sub-frame connectors on. This was not a pristine Mustang, and it certainly wasn't one of a kind. Those guys in the local Mustang club just act like every Mustang is.

My point may have been lost here. What I was trying to say is that when you make an un-popular modification you have to be prepared for all the crap that it draws. A hood is a very visible mod and with three scoops it will draw a lot of attention. The sense i get from the comments on it here suggests it will not be very popular. It takes a real man to make that kind of choice and live with it.

if you do it get a fiberglass grabber hood and fiberglass gt scoop and mold it together as one piece.

even then i still dont thing i'd be a fan of it, but personally im not really a fan of grabber hoods anyway

    Here's my :2cents:

I say one or the other, that is-either grabber or single but the three together is just 2 mutch. if the center scoop was reallllllllllyyyyyy low and way forward maby. But then it starts to look like a rice burner. Sometimes functionality and appearence just dont mesh. And this is an appearence issue to me. That said. Just set the scoop on the hood and see what you think. If you like it -do it. Otherwise your just driving someone elses car.

    J.M.O.

P.S. I would use a fiberglass or carbon hood.

What you really need is one of those long orange newspaper boxes you see under mailboxes on the side of the road.

Slap that puppy down in the middle of your grabber hood if you want to be different.

I knew I had seen it and would eventually find it again.
