I have never had any interaction with you or your husband. But I know from what I have read here on this forum you are both held in real high regard. I don't think this honest mistake, made back in a time when the info wasn't available, will be held against you in any way.

Just throwing it out now shows how honest and forthcoming you are.

Hold you head up high and rock on.

I don't see a issue with what is a "trim option" being upgraded or deleted for that matter... Many high $$$ restored vehicles that started life as "strippers" now enjoy a full complement of options...

Well then I can defiantly claim mine isn't a modified GT...

Jean I bought the car from you and I am not upset in anyway. I have had some where near 150 cars in my life and that was one of the top 10 as far as workmanship presentation and attention getter. I am considering rebuying the car that is how happy I was with the car.

Stallion or no Stallion, both you and your husband did an amazing job on restoring a 1976 Maverick. :tiphat:

Hey, y'all made an improvement to that car! So what if it didn't come factory as a Stallion? How many fake Grabbers are there out there? How many fake Shelby's? Y'all represented it as to what you thought it to be at the time. Ford has always been hard to find info on some things, and y'all just went with what looked logical at the time. Before the interwebs I'd bet a lot were restored incorrectly, some intentional, some not. If anything, I'd say it was better than a factory original.:bouncy:

Forgive if you want, don't if you don't. It seems like you wrote this just to get a warm fuzzy from people that you know care for you for something you are trying not to feel guilty about. The real question is what does the purchaser feel about the situation? Can you make it right to that person? Let's look at this from the perspective that people here don't know you. I can see a few of the people here running you into the ground, I've seen it done before by many in this thread. I respect the fact that you have valued friends here but it is unfair to come here to plead your case. I think you should sit back and think about what you are going to do about it to make it right. If it is nothing, which is fine, don't go looking for a pass to ease your conscience, DO what ever you need to do to clear it. Before you all crucify me, I have always said here that a rust free body was way more important than what it was to begin with, in the maverick world, these are not rare Shelby's. I understand that it was done a while ago but did you ever tell anyone that you made the assumption that it was a stallion based on paint and trim you found while stripping it but you couldn't confirm it?

Honestly, my car will look like a grabber, but it will be a grabber clone with a straight 6 LOL So if it had an 8 and I changed it all, I would sell it as a Grabber Clone and not a Grabber. I have a King Cobra II for example, but there are people who take Cobras and turn them into Kings by putting in a 302 and changing some things like finding air damns and all kinds of stuff. But it's still a King Cobra clone. The build tag in these also shows what they are, and I guess someone can stamp in the King code on the tag, but it's still not a King.

I suppose like Wardf said, you can justify this all you want. The bottom line is really what your customer thinks. Being in business tells me that if I make a mistake I have to right it for my customer for many reasons. Legally I don't know if he has a leg to stand on or not, but he might because the car was sold as such and not a clone.

I hope you work this out for yourself and in yourself. Sounds like you're having a difficult time justifying it for yourself. I'm kinda new here and I've read the post, just thought I would say something.

Again, hope you resolve this for yourself... I can tell you what I would do, but that's me and not you :)

The car has actually changed hands a few times, and is (was) currently for sale. The owner, that bought it from them, has no hard feelings, he's even posted in this thread. I think Jean just wanted to clear the air, there was no "warm feeling" involved. They are genuinely upset, and they wanted to admit, a mistake was made.

As far as I am concerned this is a "case closed" as all parties involved seem to be satisfied. And for what it is worth, I think Jean has stepped up and put more grief on herself than what she deserved.

I would not have brought it here to the message board to start with, there was no mention of it so She has nothing to defend...seems Her and the owner are good with it...that's as far as it needed to have gone...:yup:

I don't see it as that big of deal. It's not like you sold the guy a fake Shelby Mustang, and he shares the responsibility of verifying what it was before buying it.
