well I thought they were the same as maverick/comet obviously.
I read really good reviews from the mustang /falcon guys that had bought them previously and wanted to save $ so I bought them

    thought I was moving forward
I got my front and back windshield installed at a glass shop that has a good reputation for doing old cars. well it was the day before the storm that went through. it looked really good. they did a flush smooth seal since I didnt put the chrome back on.(smooth /flush seal..... they filled the gap between the glass and the body with sealer so t looked like the gasket went right up to the body) well after the storm I went to go fix my shifter linkage since it the keeper pin fell out somehow and I checked to see how the new install did against the storm and I found a puddle of water on the floor on both sides in the front

I had one installed 2 yrs ago, haven't seen a leak yet. "Knock on wood". Flush/smooth seal may not work on these older cars.

okay so I double checked the leak before taking it back to the glass shop. the car doesnt have any other weather stripping on it yet. I have to get the rest ordered. I already have the 1/4 seals from the member who used to make great ones RIGHT before he quit making them. now with that said, I took a water hose over the front and rear windows and didnt see any water come in anywhere. so I dont think theyre leaking. the water mustve been from around the doors and 1/4 windows. and I also forgot theres a hole in the top of the 1/4 panel where the boomerangs go that was open.
I need to weld those holes shut since I dont intend to put boomerangs back on.

the cowl is perfect luckily. Ive had the dash out and cleaned everything up and painted it and the inside of my cowl is so clean you can see right down in there. mine was painted from the factory or atleast plenty of over spray got in there if it wasnt painted.

I also installed my battery tray in the trunk so my battery wont go flying around when I :chirp:

Im going to order the rest of the seals this week then when they come in Ill get them put in and check again

so Ive been busy working on my car and got a bunch of stuff done.
on this update Ive got the door waether stripping on.
changed the valve covers since my oldschool mickey thompson ones were too low profile for teh 1.7 rockers I have and oil was spraying out from under the oil cap every time I drove the car since there was no baffle in there.
got my burgundy door panels on. got my burgundy shock tower braces on
    the back seat in
put longer wheel studs in with new lug nuts that decided they werent going to come off once they went on so I ended up braking the wheel studs and throwing them all away along with the lug nuts, what a waste of money that was
after that I went to a local rearend shop and ordered the right ones
tightened up my exhaust after it came loose and started dragging the ground the first time I drove the car
replaced the rusty bolts in my spoiler
finally got a battery hold down ( no more bungee cord YES )
put my burgundy sport mirrors on
fixed the battery tray so it would be solid this time. last time I just found some bolts and nuts and attempted to make it work but the bolts didnt quite match the nusts and the nuts wouldnt thread all the way up tight
then I decided it was time to go racing so I went and bought some mickey thompson drag radials for $450 out the door for a pair of 26 9.50 15 it was a lot of money but after taking the car out last night it was money well spent.

hard to believe its been 5 years already since I started this post and its been a year already since my last update.
well here goes Ive been steadily messing around with the car and not really spending alot of money on it or changing anything much until recently
I left off last time with taking the car out to the track for the first time. I couldnt have been happier with the performance of the car. it ran 14.4 in the 1/4 I know its not a real impressive number but it was for me since I shifted at 4500 rpm each gear and went straight down the track smooth as can be and no break downs. I felt like I hit the lotto when I crossed that line at the end without having a clue how fast I went or what time it went. I was so excited just to have been in my very own race car lol

well lets jump ahead a bit after taking it racing I decided it was time for a paint job so I went to walmart and bought a $8 quart of rustoleum exterior oil base satin paint and a $2 kitchen cabinet roller kit from the hardware section and went to town. I think it came out pretty good for being painted for under $20 it even gave the paint that rhino liner look with a texture to the paint

a couple weeks or so later my digital programmable msd 6al2 box went out (brand new crapped out on me)
so we just took it out and locked the distributor.

then I started my own mobile auto repair service and my car quickly became the company's mascot getting all lettered up and getting my logo plastered on the doors as big as I could go lol after that the first thing I did was break the transmission
after the transmission broke I let it set for a few months not touching it.

then the rain came and I couldnt work on the car so I got anxious. to pass the time I started thinking of some of the things I want to change or will have to change on the car and started TROLLING craigslist. I was on there night and day looking for something ANYTHING I could use that I didnt have to buy new for a fortune well I ran across a set of 4 weld drglites with tires for $350. the rears are 15" wide wheels and a 29x18.5015 tire for the rear and 4"x15 skinnies for the front.

as soon as the rain stopped I started messing with the car again well it didnt want to start and when it did it ran like crap. (mad at me for not paying it attention for a few months lol) well I took my carb apart to rebuild it figuring thats the problem well the inside looked like someone poured a cup of brown sugar in it. there was soooo much crap in there you could literally scoop it out with a spoon if you could get one in there. so we cleaned the carb out and stuck a rebuild kit in it then drained the tank and blew out the fuel line and changed the inline fuel filter before calling it good. then I moved onto adding a comet gt hood scoop Ive been saving for a good year or so. once installed it got painted black instead of the factory yellow.

after that we were struggling with what we thought were electrical problems from the engine acting as if it had a rev limiter that wouldnt let me get over 2000 rpm well just the other day I figured out why its not electrical at all theres more crap in my carb and filter so whole fuel system is plugged up and apparently it was getting just enough fuel to run up to round 2000 rpm before the fuel filter would run dry. so that tells me I have to get a new tank or have that one cleaned
to solve that issue I went and finally broke down and bought a new electric fuel pump fuel pressure regulator and carb but after thinking about it for a second instead of going full speed ahead like I usually do without thinking twice I decided to wait to install the new fuel system until I get a new fuel tank and fuel line since that stuff cost me almost $900.

last week maybe around wednesday I got a text from my engine builder that my intake manifold and super charger came in finally. so I was jacked up excited knowing my engine is coming together but managed to resist running right over there just to look at it lol

friday I sold a maverick my son was building for $5500 and delivered it to the new owner saturday morning. okay so youre cought up to saturday last week.
well sunday I went to the annual car show at spankys pizza in placerville like I have for the last 4 or 5 years now and was surprised to see two mavericks and a comet that I hadnt seen before (well the comet I saw last year but it was grey primer this year its red primer)
now today being all jacked up on seeing so many mavericks parts coming in at the machine shop and having a pocket full of money I had to go pay a visit to chris alstons chassis works after talking to Mike and learning that the wheels I just happened to have are perfect for my set up with a taller wrinkle wall tire (super helpful and knowledgeable guy) I ended up purchasing the full 4 link back half with fab 9 rearend coil over vari shocks and 10 point roll cage for $2500
now hopefully by monday Ill be able to go back and buy the axles gears and whatever else I didnt get today for the rear of the car to be complete.

after making a visit there I hit up the machine shop and picked up my super charger and intake manifold so I can have them ready for powder coating when the chassis comes in by the end of the next week. needless to say Im super excited that my car is FINALLY coming together and Im starting to see some REAL progress in the direction of being done

I think I remembered everything from the last year its been a wild ride this last year for sure from opening and closing my business, fixing stuff then breaking stuff then changing some other stuff on my car, finally deciding to sell the other maverick my son was building with the incredible interior and now the engine coming real close to being ready to build and now the chassis being bought finally. hopefully the rest of this year will be productive just as productive

ps after looking through pics to upload I forgot to mention I got bored and got the idea to put stripes on my car again only this time I decided to go with gloss black over satin to see how it came out so after what seemed like hours of taping and masking I finally got it done and I think it came out okay but I want to redo the whole thing and spray it so much that it gets that smooth glossy finish while the rest of the car has that rough texture. then I think it will look much better

my son helping drill the holes for the gt hood scoop IMG_20170509_184650.jpg after figuring out we have no clue how to measure stuff and had 4 or 5 extra holes that didnt line up lol
IMG_20170509_181414.jpg took car to big event to help promote the business
    IMG_20170430_100552.jpg
some of the same crap I found in the carb IMG_20170502_193845.jpg got the black hood scoop on and painted also in the pic are the goodies for the fuel system the pump regulator relay and the 650 double pumper with fuel line
IMG_20170604_193627.jpg pulling out the mav to go to the new owner. a bit heart broken but it freed up some cash to help finish my comet. thank fully this car has gone to a good home. the guy said hell fix it and drive it as is then when his son gets old enough theyll start working on it together.
IMG_20170623_114420.jpg Houston we have a problem! the transmission is thoroughly SCREWED UP lol
IMG_20170402_111516.jpg FINALLY the super charger and intake came in after being told it was on its way two months ago but went to the wrong shop half way across the country
    IMG_20170626_145404.jpg
always nice to get shiny new parts IMG_20170626_145418.jpg taping off the lines for the stripes to see how theyll look (I got the inspiration from a newer mustang I saw at the casino one day)
IMG_20170609_152222.jpg the aftermath lol the stripes didnt come out too bad but they made me realize my hood is BANGED up all over. I never noticed them before and I dont like the texture in the gloss part
new comet hood stripes.jpg been a busy year

Thanks for the update, nice to see that you are able to spend time on your business coupe, lol you cant let them sit they do get mad at you . Now lets get your dream ride done so you can have some real fun, it would be nice for it to get done enough that you could take some pics of it, if it is anything like you have posted about it it will be a monster but I hope you dont paint it with rustoleum.

    another update
I just couldnt stay away. I went back to chassis works and bought the rearend housing and axles (thought I bought the rearend housing yesterday but nope) gotta save up for the gears or shop around a bit they want $1850+ for gears
I got frame rails from the cage to the front of the frame where the radiator support would be. I also bought both motor plates I ended up spending another grand total of $2500 again today now I have to save up for a minute to buy anything else I need.

IM BROKE after spending $5k this week thankfully the other car sold and I could free up the cash to pull this off otherwise I might have been stuck buying one part here and there
