A lot of states (including mine) used to change plates every year. Now it is every 3 or 4 years.

Back in the 70" s wv didn't require auto insurance.. I'm pretty sure it wasn't covered. Thanks for the advice. I checked with personal tax office, the only keep records for five years

Unfortunately I only have three photos, non of them show the place.
I'm starting to think that I'll never find the old girl

I know it's not the 'same', but there are enough of these cars around at decent prices, you could always build a car the same way as the original. I got into this same situation when my father and I were trying to locate my Grandfather's old 72 Gran Torino Sport. My grandfather had tossed all and any insurance info and paperwork regarding the car. No VIN, very few complete pictures, and only the name of the next owner. The car was driven daily here in the Maritimes since 1973, so it's likely been to China and back (recycled) at least once!

Just found a 71 Maverick (just like my mom had except its blue)
It needs a lot of work. Needs floor pans and the spot below the battery tray is rotted out.
Need some advice asap. Is there any aftermarket floor pans for Maverick?
IS there any way to replace to the rusted out part below the battery tray?

No and no. First gen Mustang pans CAN be made to fit, but you'll have to fab a battery apron or find a donor or NOS.

You may be better off holding out waiting for one with less rust. The cowl area is very succeptable to rot, which often ends up rotting out the front floor pans and torque boxes.

I bought a 19,000 mile original car and ended up replacing the cowl. A gallon of water poured down the grilles in front of the windshield will put water on the front floors if the cowl's bad.

Buy the least amount of rust you can....otherwise your "good buy" will be made up later. :D
