That's okay! I'll let you keep the rust. I prefer getting the deals without rust. Thanks for all the kind words everyone...
Ended up getting my dremel tool out & getting some cut off wheels. Went hot & heavy on the outer bearing race. I got it out, cleaned it up. Put in a new axle seal, installed the axle, I had in my parts bin. Added brake fluid, bled the rears. Added 90 weight gear oil & crossed my fingers. Put in a battery. First test: she fired right up. Next test: put in gear & listen for noise. It passed the test! No noise from the rearend (reverse or forward). I do still have to put on new rear brake shoes (contaminated), which I have. And I'll install new rear shocks (right rear shock broken). When I get the wheels & tires back on Friday, I'll take it for a test drive. The total on parts $50.00. The price of the car $50.00. End result, priceless!
Today I replaced the rear shocks & brake shoes. Got the wheels put on & went for a shake down cruise. The car started right up. It does have some clunking in the right front, when you hit bumps. Other than doing some suspension work, replacing the heater core, dash lites & brake lites, it's a great little car. Runs really sweet...
That is a sharp looking little grocery getter ya got there. Who are you going to buy the suspension parts from?
Thank you! I'll get my parts through Scott Drake again. Was pleased with the items for the 73 Comet...
