So I am converting to a B&M floor shifter and need/want to get rid of the column shift altogether. I’m leaning toward an Ididit column for my 77. For those who have done aftermarket, which length did you go with and how did you deal with the GM wiring. Does Ididit’s 65 Comet column work by chance?

I haven't seen anyone on the forum address the question of aftermarket column! Hope someone has/does have answer to this question.
I am member of several Maverick/Comet FB groups, haven't seen anyone there address this issue either.

I went ahead with ordering an Ididit column after more research and speaking with the Rod & Custom guys. I'll have to make the under dash mounting work. Next challenge: moving my ignition switch to the dash like the 69.5 Mavericks.

Why ignition has to go in dash? What length you ordered? Hope you will document the column swap, as some may be interested at making the same change.

Must have bought the keyless column. My biggest beef with these columns is the GM key, I would want to retain a Ford key.

When I went to a floor shift I disassembled the column, removed the shifter tubes and linkage, Cut off the shift lever and nub and did some "body work" to the hole left in the column. Looks like a floor shift column now.

That's what I plan to do unless I find a deal on a tilt, then I'll swap columns and "body work" it!

When I converted to floor shift, I used the column collar from a 71 - 73 Mustang.
