Have lightest springs in distributor. Total timing is around 40 and I believe it's all in about 2500 or lower

The problem w/ 289s & 302s is that you have to spin them up to make power,I`ve driven quite a few of them. They just don`t generally make much torque. Therefore, most likely you will need a higher stall to get you off the line to help your 60ft,a minimum 4000,& a better cam that when you degree it you want to retard it some so you will have power in the upper rpm ranges.I don`t know what kind of rubber you have on the car for traction. If you have the money throw some drag radials on it & you will be set.

    I have 275 60 15 m&h drag radials. After this set i am definitely going with a 275 50 or a 26" slick.

You might try to shorten the curve and less total.

So your saying different bushings to limit the amount of advance so I can run more initial timing?

For what it's worth. If I am pulling distributor out there's a good chance I will just lock it out.

Yes. If your going to drive it on the street much it might be better off the just limit it but locking it out is an option. Mine is locked out. I'd say your total is a little high also.

So I got to track again today. ran a 12.48 at 110. finally a 12 second pass out of this car. next run I tried the nitrous and I think it blew right thru converter because rpms shot to about 5,000 and held there whole run

They are the 72 cc ones. I originally bought them thinking I was going boosted. and just never went boosted. lol. I can get you part number off them later today if you want.

Try backing timing down to 36* total and run 87 octane, and see what it does.
The slower burning 93, with low compression may be holding it back a little bit.

I will try that possibly this weekend. I guess anything could help. I think I have about 1/4 tank 93 add a few gallons of 87 should lower the octane down to like 89 gradually.

Set max timing at 34 deg, with your compression ratio I thing you will be hurting your power & defeating what you are trying to accomplish.I don`t care what anybody says, unless you are going to turn the mtr extremly high rpms,a low compression eng. will not benefit from high timing. Also, make sure you don`t run a cold spark plug, try 32s or maybe even 44s.
