The alternator we intend to use is from a 75 302 with air conditioning. Is it ok to use the regulator that is in our 200 cylinder from 70? or should we get a reg from a 75 302 with a/c? -Todd:confused:
I am not completely sure what to tell you, so I'll tell you what I know, and let you decide. In my Chilton's manual it lists all the regulator specs. For 70-74 it lists them all having a Voltage Setting (volts @ 50-125 Degrees F) of 13.3-15.3, and they all have a Field Relay Closing Volts of 2.0-4.2. The only differences between them are apparently the identification color of the regulator corresponding to the alternator used. For 75-77 it lists them having a Voltage Setting of 13.5-15.3, and a Field Relay Closing Volts of 2.5-4.0. If you tell me the part number of your alternator I can look up what color regulator you need, and also tell you the stats on your alternator. I would play it safe however and put on the 75 regulator - it isn't hard to swap them. Let me know if you want the info I mentioned. -Corbin
