Hi all, starting restoration project of an Ford Maverick that friend of mine had in his backyard for 25 years. Got a lot of lucky to get a deal with guy and finally have it at my home. From vin F6K92LI82793F it looks like this is 1976 maverick with 250 i6 engine, I am right?

Must be why we almost never see a older European car around here.

Most Mav/Comet rusted into large chunks, I guess the Euro cars disintegrated.

Tomorrow will see if will be able to start it, previous owner said he started it 3-4 years ago without problem, but gearbox was working only on reverse, no front gears.

It’s true, I had Renault 4L from 1979, and it was rusted till holes, almost all classic European cars need body work with fiber

Hi to all, for now plan is start it tomorrow, put new front wheels for be able to move it in my workshop. For now want to make it run, then fix papers and later dismount for painting and engine rebuild. Now looking for info what electrical engine parts and carburetor I need to order for it. From my small experience in classic cars to make it run good is better to put modern ignition and carb. Also another thing that I will need to do is a figure out why transmission only work on reverse gear, last time it was started it had this problem. What I am seen on forum, maybe just transmission oil change can be enough. Will see

    Little update... it’s doesn’t start((
I had cleaned all electrical connection, distributor points and it have spark only when I turn ignition off, on crancs nothing. Find out that it have cardone distributor and motocraft d5de gb carburetor. Seen over forum that sometimes ignition switch can be a problem and cleaned contacts on it,still nothing, looking for electronic ignition to put on here in Europe
