I'm wondering if anyone knows; what makes a Granada rearend wider than a Maverick rearend? Is the housing itself wider with longer axels, or are just the brake drums wider? Will Granada brake drums fit on a Maverick rearend (if the entire brake assembly is changed) and if so, would they make the track of a Maverick rearend wider?...:confused:
I know for sure the housing flange to flange distance is wider. Brakes would completely swap between the Maverick and Granada as they have the same bolt pattern. Would not change the track. Eric J

Yes, no, maybe ........ Typical Ford thing, if I say yes, somebody will find the exception to the rule. If you are talking about a 5 lug 8" rear in each car, it should swap. Now if you look in a parts book, the Maverick and Granada have different numbers for everything, like the drums, shoes, ect. I think the Granada used a 10x2" and the Maverick had a 10x1 3/4". But as far as a physical swap, it should not be a problem, as either backing plate would have the same bolt pattern. (8" large bearing). If you could lay them out side by side to compare, I would love to see what you come up with.
