Just wondering if anyone out there has anything other than a fender mounted antenna? I'm not to keen on drilling a hole in my fender, but if that's what has to be done, so be it. How is it routed from the fender to the interior? :hmmm:

I just zip tie my antenna up under the dash. Works good enough.

I heard a good idea about a hidden antenna...
Put it under a fiberglass Grabber rear spoiler.
The fiberglass does not interfere with reception like steel.
Mounting inside the car or under steel body panels shields much of your reception.

It is routed in through the passenger side of the car. Open your passenger door and look at the panel that the door hinges are bolted to. Between the hinges there is a round hole. The Antenna wire goes through that hole, up behind the passenger kick panel, up behind the dash and over to the radio. You have to remove the passenger kick panel to route the wire.

Why would you need to drill a hole in your fender? Did the car not already have an Antenna?

After purchasing the Mav, and after tearing into it, I did find an antenna under the dash. It was just the wire with no mast, just laying up inside there. There is no hole in the fender(s) for an antenna. I bought an antenna and for now just zipped tied it under the dash. If need be later, I'l drill the hole in the fender. I did locate the hole just under the dash where you were talking about, but again, no hole in the fender. Must have been replaced at one time, but the old yellow color underneath matches other areas of the car:huh:

I have a set of factory replacement fenders and neither one has a hole for the antenna...
I put a power antenna in the passenger rear quarter:

Of course, it may not be an issue for you, but the antenna will always work better if you have it outside mounted to some steel part of the car. In the end for me I listen to my XM satellite radio more often than AM/FM so maybe I could have put it under the dash and saved the trouble of drilling a hole in the quarter. :p

I had a Maverick back in my "youth" that had no radio or antennae......from the factory. I also seem to recall that cars were shipped from the factory WITHOUT the antennae installed so that it would not get broke in transit. Not sure if that means if it had the holes or not.

When I installed the NOS fender on my car it came without the antenna hole.

MavMark, I really like that. Looks sharp. (y) I've been planning to put an electric antenna on my car in the stock location for a while now for the simple fact that my stereo has a wire for one thats just hanging there not doing anything. :)

I love it Mark! I've seen another Maverick with an antenna mounted in the same place. I think it looks great! (y)
