hello, i am a new member and i have a 75 maverick with a really rusty gas tank. i can't find anyplace that sells them so i am having my dad restore it and he is having a lot of trouble finding something that will remove all the rust and seal it. any tips?
Welcome to the forums!!! You can go to just about any radiator shop, and they can acid etch the tank, and seal it with a pour in liner that will seal it up just about forever. If it is done right, they can fix about any tank, unless it has big holes in it. Give it a try!
If you have some fabrication skills and a welder you can use a mustang tank. http://maverick.to/gtu_faq.php
i also have a 75 and i have the same problem, im going to order a 76 tank 4 mine, for around $140. Good Luck
they make a product called creme that seals about anything you can get that at a napa store or a motorcycle shop they use this alot on old bike tanks seals therust right over,
