    Hi all,

Long story short, I grew up 10 miles S.W. of Chicago and attended Ohio State University. After graduation I moved back to Chicago for two years and last September 2018 I moved to Cleveland (Shaker Heights).

I myself have a 1972 Maverick that I got about 9 years ago. Being new to Northeast Ohio I hardly know any other car enthusiast/drag racers or where any of the car hangouts are at. My goal is to meet other Maverick owners and car enthusiasts in the Northeast Ohio area.

Also, please let me know of any car shows or hangouts I should check out in the area.

See the below links of my Maverick.

There have been two events in Ohio in the last few years, Dayton last year and Lima a few years ago -- I attend both.
Not exactly in NE, but not that far form Shaker. Where did you live in SW suburbs. Also, went to latest event in Springfield this past July -- have never been to one I didn't enjoy.

I will have to keep an eye on those locations for next year. I grew up in McCook which is next to Brookfield, Lyons, LaGrange, etc.

Next years MCCI Roundup in July, there is information on this forum and FB. Also, there was just a gathering recently at Geneva on the Lake, OH., don't know how far that is from you. Awesome car you have; lot's of folks have cars they trailer to the events -- mine is strictly a driver.
I live near Blue Island somewhat familiar w/ the towns you mentioned.

Thanks! I drive mine probably 95% on the street. I don't typically do long hauls with it but I have done ~80 mile round trip with it before. Geneva on the Lake is ~50 miles from me. I will have to start updating my calendar as I find out about events.

jakecrnkovich22 you hit the jack-pot by moving to northeast Ohio when it comes to classic cars and racing. First off you need to join the Maverick Comet Club International (MCCI). The club has a Maverick Comet event every August at Geneva-on-the-Lake plus other events throughout the country. MCCI is all things Maverick and Comet.

    MCCI website kink:
    http://maverickcometclub.org/

Here in northeast Ohio we have four 1/4 mile tracks and one 1/8th mile track all within a maximum two hour driving distance. They are Summit, Thompson, Quaker City, Dragway 42 and the 1/8th mile track Magnolia. All have websites. If you care to drive another 1/2 hour you can include at least three more.

As for Cruise-in sites, they are numerous. See Cruisin-Times link:
    https://www.cruisintimesmagazine.com/collector-car-cruise-ins

The Solon Cruse-in is just one big event that takes place on Tuesdays:
    https://rnrcsm.com/

Summit Racing in Tallmadge also has large events, check their website for dates.

I went to the Ravenna Ohio annual Cruise-in last Wednesday evening. There was well over 1,000 vehicles and they began turning cars away one hour after opening due to lack of parking space. It was insane!!!! BTW, I never spotted another Maverick or Comet other than mine.
