Are stock 8" axle shafts inherently weak. I barely grazed a curb while doing donuts and the axle is bent at the time the other one was not, I believe, I do a lot of autocross events and I recently noticed the other is bent. Does anybody know if they are just weak?

most axles will bend hitting a curb. i see it all the time. they always say i barely hit a curb. i doubt auto crossing would bend the axle. it needs a momentary impact to bend it. the axle is rotating during aggressive turning so its never stationary at one point to bend. the section out side of the bearing is the same thickness as small bearing 31 spline axles.

yep axles fault you hit a curb lol

I bet if you had a big 9 inch in there and hit a curb that axle would bend
8" axles themselves are pretty strong but meant to be strong in such a way they wont break off or rip the splines off under pressure but theyre designed to turn not to be beat on or meant to be "barely grazing a curb" lmao

but look at it this way you bent it having fun and you didnt get hurt so its a cost of what you do. I say put another axle in and get back at it and leave the "curb grazing" to the guys with sponsors

we might just have to dub you SIR curb grazer :biglaugh:

cant help it my kids car jumped a curb once at a show and hes forever known as curb hopper

I never bent or broke an 8" axle. But I sure got some 8" rear ends.

I was just debating buying some better aftermarket axles or finding some good used ones. Also any recommendations on aftermarket axles?
