Just for the sake of performance put a TransGo -2 kit in it. for trannys older than 1970 use a 47-2 and for trannys 1970 and later use a 40-2 kit. They cost about $75 but they are more than worth it. You can install it yourself if you can pull the pan and valve body out of your tranny. The instructions are easy to follow and it will make your tranny last longer and shift better.

Thanks, after I get it up and running I plan to install a shift kit. Is that number the same for both a case fill and a pan fill tranny? Mine is a pan fill from a 77 Granada.

Yep! a 40-2 kit from TransGo is the kit you need. You will be delighted with the results.
