When it comes to Mavericks and Comets, age matters very little. If you're concerned about some of us being old enough to be your grandparents then look at it this way. With that accumulated age comes a wealth of knowledge which we are more than happy to pass down to the younger guys and gals. That knowledge is what keeps the Maverick community such a great place to be in. BTW, I got my first Maverick 17 years ago (and I still have it) but I've been into Fords since the day I got my license 38 years ago.

Got my first Comet age 65. Proud of it. Had it a little over 3 yrs. Hope to enjoy it as long as I can. A long time car and mostly Ford enthusist. I have been to 2 major Mav/Comet events. One in "MCCI" Dearborn, MI. in 2011. I had plans for the same event 2012 but was sidelined having knee surgery. My first MCCI event was in Hannibal, MO.2010 were I met several folks on this forum. The folks I had the pleasure of meeting was a great experience. I enjoyed both of the meets.
Age, gender, religion, politics and/or race matters not to me -- it's all abt the love and passion of the hobby is what matters.
It is my hope to make this years Mav/Comet Club meet in Iowa, hopefully to meet some of the folks who did/cud not make the MCCI event...

I was 19 when I got my Comet(I'm 25 now.) The only things I have ever gotten from the fine gentlemen on this board are courtesy, excellent advice and kindness. Never any attitude, never any talk down to a "kid." We are blessed to have been born into an age that allows people of all ages and societal backgrounds to freely and easily converse with each other.

My 17 year old daughter has been driving mine a lot lately. Says if it wasn't yellow she wouldn't mind owning it....I'm a bit scarred thinking about her driving it with the warmed over 302 I'm working on for it...

I am 65 and a couple weeks ago a young guy he said he was 19 came up to me at our local cruise in and asked if he could take a video of my comet. I said sure he asked if I would start it up again I said ok. He made the video and said he wanted to put it on u tube I said ok again.
Last week another young kid came up and started talking he was 17 we talked for 15 or 20 minutes. He said he had a 72 Grabber handed down to him by his grandfather and he was looking for parts and information about our cars. I gave him my cell phone number and he said he would call when he started on it. So it dosen't matter about your age. Have fun.

As of today, I am a young 79 years old. You can't beat having 7/11 for a birthday. BTW I still do all of the work on my Mav.

Bought a 4 year old Maverick Grabber when I was 16. Wrecked it two years later. Drove various cars for years, never really thinking about that first car.

Then in 1999 I had a wild hair and Googled "Maverick". Bought a 77 Comet 4-door within months of my search and these cars have become somewhat of an obsession of mine ever since....
