The Comet hood is blue right now, but it WILL be flat black to match the rest of the car when I put it back on sometime this week. Speakin' of which, I forgot to get my valances and rear bumper out of the 4 door while I was in NC this weekend. I was gonna start doing the small bumper swap this week. Crapola.
What about those of us with a gloss black hood? Does clearcoat make us junior members or elite members of the black hood society? lol Please consult the handbook and let me know
my whole car is flat black right now, and I was thinking about leaving the hood and tail panel satin when I do get color on it, does that count, even up here in joisey?
Frank, MAV, I think we messed up by offering to let Dan in the Society. I mean, even though he is from New Jersey and he is trying to convert to a Georgia Boy, we now have more of them Garden State types trying to join and they don't even live in Georgia.:16suspect Wasn't the last bunch that tried that called "Carpetbaggers?"
Well .. I'm out! I sanded off most of the black ... and the hood was nice and straight - that black was on there pretty thick. Just found one dimple from what was probably an air cleaner stud. Hammered it down smooth. Put some thick coats of primer on and then blocked and wet sanded. Couple more coats of primer and blocking and it's ready for some Yellow top coat ....
Seriously, the primer job looks good. I couldn't help notice you chose not to use black primer. It was the initiation wasn't it.
LOL ... I figure on day it will look like this ... no offense ... but I like the matching bonnet! I used the light gray primer so the yellow will cover better.
