Like many, I had some free time on my hands. I dug this out of one of my families archive trunks today. It is dated Dec. 1966 and was from North Shore Sales Lincoln/Mercury in LaPorte, Ind. where my dad and uncle worked from the 60's to the late 70's. I thought some of you would get a kick out of these prices. There are some Comets listed too. It shows how much they gave for the trade in, and how much they put the car on the lot for. Even a Wards brand cycle as a trade in! The "Snyder" trade in was my grandma's car. Not sure which of her two son's got the deal. Lol
LOL $76K inventory value for over 50 cars(yes used). Now days one new car can cost that.. Side note, in '87 -ish I bought 10 used cars from Pontiac wholesale line for around $1350. They all drove home. My interesting story is in '73 when I bought my Cobra Jet, loan value was $850... I already signed sales agreement for $1500, if my $600+ tax refund had not shown up same day, I may not have gotten it.
Tom, Those are two great stories. You scored TWICE!!! I love old Pontiacs. I still owned my 67 Firebird in 87.
Nice Firebird. I had a '76 Firechicken with a 455 Bonneville engine in it. Traded a '79-ish 305 Camero with dead cylinder(no compression) even up for it. The chicken had probably three pounds of Bondo and a bad 350 transmission(no doubt succumbed to the 455). Plus was, new paint job and all the decals included but not installed. Local guy was advertising rebuild on these trans for $100 and any hard parts necessary. It had been crunched fairly badly, I wound up with approx $175 in transmission but figured I was ahead. Had a bit of fun with it and sent it on down the road.
