Block Casting C8OE-6015A Ford 302

    I have a Ford 302 that supposedly is out of a Ford 68 302 Shelby GT350.

    What would be a fair price? It ran when it was taken out of the car.

    A C80E-6015-A is a Cleveland cast block and was used for 289 in very late '67 & ALL 302 in '68 & '69... Sooo not to rain on your parade, it could just as well came from grandma's 4dr Galaxie...

    Here's the skinny if you'd really like to ID it...

    Look on pad behind intake, there will be eight digits, first is year and second is assembly plant.. Note units built before Jan 1, 1968 may not have the stamping, as it wasn't mandated till then... In that case the cast date will be helpful...

    If the plant code is other than T (Metuchen, NJ), would be impossible it originated in a Shelby... BUT if it did and assuming that Shelby still exists, it could be rather valuable to the owner...

    Example is the block from my Comet, 2 = year, K = Kansas City assembly...

    Krazy Comet, no harm, no foul..."supposedly is out of a Ford 68 302 Shelby GT350" I have never confirmed. I will have to look. OK, suppose it is just a 302, fair price?

    If it originated life as 2bbl 302 with orig heads, I could see $600 to $750 with components listed... Of course that assumes in good, runnable condition... If it needs rebuilding, the carb & intake are worth as much if not more than long block...

    If it's a real '68 J code 302 with the 10.5 CR 4V heads, add a couple hundred to complete price(those were only avail in '68 Cyclone, Mustang, Cougar, plus the Shelby GT350)... If it's a real Shelby engine and car still exists I could see at least $1500-$2000 for just long block... But lemme check some sources...

    Well that sux... Lets at least see when it was cast and built... Also under valve cover will 68 & 4V if it has the hi compression heads...

    Near the C8OE should be a three or four digit date code, consisting of a number, letter and one or two more numbers... Also on front where timing cover mates will be a stamped date of engine assembly... Guessing since there is no partial VIN it is a early '68 model year engine which could still have been in a Shelby...

    the 2E11 on my Comet means block was cast May 11 1972... (date for 1967 would start with 7, codes repeated each decade)

    My first car was a '68 J Code 302 Cougar XR7. It ran pretty good even with the stock 2.79 gears.

    Unless it was a warranty replacement engine(which could be why there is no stamp on top of block) it's never seen a '68 Shelby, 9E20 is May 20 1969...

    I'd still check the heads...

    Sorry for bad news but a engine block that was cast in May of '69 could only be a replacement or someone stuck it in a Shelby... In this application originality is paramount, a non orig 1969 302 isn't worth any more than one from any other '69 model(GT-350 used 351 in '69)...

    You can pull a valve cover and see if there is a 4V casting in the center of the head. Then you'll know if it's the high compression motor.

    Thanks Bob, I'll check it out tomorrow. Any progress on your Maverick, I have the exhaust installed. I need a free day, battery and vroom vroom:) This work thing keeps getting in my way

    OK, took the valve cover off. There is no 4V.

    There is a "78", a "CP", and a what looks to be "BD-18
