Jamie's picture is right, but it is the drivers side. You can see it hanging there in front of the green arrow.
That is interesting, another great FORD inconsistency with these cars. My car was made in Dearborn, MI and was on the drivers side just like Jamie's picture.
You missunderstand my post. I said if it is a Wayne, Michigan (W V.I.N.) built car, it is on the drivers side where I pointed. If it is a St. Thomas, Canada car (X V.I.N.), it is on the passenger side.
Here is the tag off my brother's '73 2 door. The car is yellow with tan interior, 250/3 on the tree, 3.00 rear gear, A/C. Door tag codes: Body: 62A, Color: 6E (Med. Bright Yellow), Trim: BT (Avacado, this has to be a screw up as the car obviously had tan interior), Trans: 3 (unknown code?), Axel: 6 (3.00:1 rear), D.S.O. 12 (Buffalo, NY, and yes it's a very solid body!). It's kind of hard to read in the pic, so I'll post what it says below. The top line reads: 0849 MV62A 12 15 Three middle lines: L316890 STD SPM BAG A/C 27 Bottom line: 6X YEL BGE I was unable to get the tag off my '74 Grabber. I tried to no avail, but the screw is firmly rusted into the core support, makeing it impossible to turn. I do not want to break the tag, so I will have to grind the screw down in order to remove the buck tag. I'm going to have to get the tag off regardless, since the core support will have to be replaced. The data on it is layed out diffrent then the Canada cars, and it dosen't list the colors the car was. I will get it off when I go back this weekend.
You know, what I wonder, is why do some of the tags have little things stamped into them. As you can see, the tag off the '73 has two little hearts stamped out, my '69.5 has like the outline of an old Chrysler logo, the tag Craig posted has some little designs, Maple Mav's has some sideways S's or something, Ralph's has an A and some other design, Dennis' has a sideways 2 and a W, and Eddie's has an H or W and a triangle. Wonder why they did that? Notice not all of them have things stamped out.
Jamie....does the 1973 have a vinyl top? what about factor sport mirrors? If it does.....edit your original post. If you know the actual interior code off the door jamb...add that as well as the rest iof the data sticker codes.
My bad, no it does not have a vinyl top. I "think" it may have had Sport Mirrors, I'll have to check with Earl. It currently has no mirrors, but if memory serves correctly, it has places on the passenger side for sport mirror also. The car is a non Grabber car, VIN 3X91L316890. Don't let the pics fool you, aside from the doors, the body is VERY solid with only light surface rust. Not one speck of rust on the underside of the car. The car has been converted to column shift automatic at some point in it's life. Hope this helps.
