Sounds good Robbie just send me a pm or find me at firebird when I'm there.

The biggest problem with a crate motor car is its then IHRA only and the only IHRA track even close for him right now is SIR, it really limits your options on where you can race. with a traditional stocker you can run both associations. But you are right, the 302 is very limited due to the carb and it looks like a 200 ci v/sa car is probably the best combination but it is really slow. Super stock is also another option, just typically much more expensive to get started in.

Now, back to your originally scheduled debate.

I know the car will be slow but slow is just as much fun in my book. Plus, I dont want to cut the car up. No roll cage, no frame conectors, just stock. I will be a challange but thats fun too. See how fast I can go with a 2bbl carb.

I agree with JoeDirt, I do like run what you brung better. On the other hand, you would have to have a lot of cars to make it last any time at all. Our dragstrip, here in Jacksonville, N.C. , has grudge racing pretty often. There is a bunch of crap talking at those gatherings. There is also a LOT of money changing hands. I must admit, some WICKED vahicles come out of the woodwork, for the grudge matches.

I like test n tune the best. I like to try and squeeze every tenth out of my combo.....and then I like the brackets. It allows me to be a participant rather than just a spectator. I could not afford a heads up car and index racing sounds kinda like bracket racing anyhoo. Also, I really don't want a dedicated race car, I like driving to the track, having some fun and driving home.

I'm with you Don! I made two in Pro, two in Gamblers. Then my launch chip decided it was "random RPM night" It went to about 4,800 instead of 3,000 so, I went red... My daughter runnered up in Foot Brake, down to 5 in Sportsman in the Maverick, classes flooded with real race cars. We drive this one in. That's why I like brackets.
