Its not a good idea to bleed the M/C in the car.The pedal supplies too much piston travel for a dry M/C.You will ruin the pistons and plug up the compensating port in the M/C with little bits of neoprene from the pistons.I know its messy.I know its a pain in the butt. But,do you want to learn that lesson the hard way.It gets expensive quick.Trust me...do it the right way. This is not a place where you want to cut corners, Brakes are not a system to short cut.Resident expert...LOL... hardly, just serious about brakes being right, and know a bit about em to boot.
I hear ya. I'll try and find an inexpensive master cylinder tomorrow. Any ideas on how much I should spend (I see them range from 20-60 bucks)? I'm guessing I just have manual brakes - it's 4 drums on a 71 mav. Is there any need to get a master cylinder bleed kit? saw it in this article http://www.misterfixit.com/brakbld1.htm Do you mind if I pm you tomorrow if I get into a bind or have questions? I'm driving up a mountain in alittle over a week and now this is making me nervous...
Last one I bought cost me 40 bucks. They usually come with a cheap bleeder kit. When you go to buy one ask the counter guy about it.I usually fire up the computer around 5:30 after I get home from work,so I'll keep an eye out.
thanx, I appreciate the help. It's not how fast you can go but how fast you can stop that matters right? well maybe
