Most likely it won't matter since it is supposed to 'crush' @ 50% anyway BUT you won't find out until it's running awhile so I'd request a replacement rather than take the chance. That's not a Header gasket with large 3/4 port?.

    have fun

If your not in a hurry why take the chances but feel it would most likely seal but would re tighten it after a little run time. If it were for a v8 I would definitely send it back just too hard to install in the first place

Isn't that gasket supposed to be installed without a sealer??? If so chances I'd goop it up are zero and none...

Ater heating and re-torque it may crush enough to seal, still I'd return it for one without damage...

Just my take on the damage ..
When I purchase ANYTHING .. especially a Gasket .. it must be in perfect condition or it is RETURNED ... Can't you call the folks you ordered it from and advise them of the damage.. Take a picture and send it to them .. Insist on
    A NEW replacement. You're entitled to a product WITHOUT defects ! ..

    Absolutely!

I ordered a hard to find OEM steel shim gasket for the Ford small block six on E-Bay. When I received it it had been folded in half for shipment rendering it totally useless. Immediately returned it the idiot who had no more of them and also didn't have a clue ...

Fyi for future.. remflex gaskets are made of very light and easily crushed graphite so even deeper surface indentations like that will easily lay out smooth once compressed and heat cycled. Biggest issue is delamination upon removal and cracking through into the perforated core reinforcement.

And never use sealant on these types of gaskets as it only becomes the weakest link with much lower heat tolerance than the gasket itself. Sealers won't bond with the very slippery graphite either.
