Man I'm even more confused about this now than I was before. Dan, I understand the difference in the floor pan and seat track between cat and non-cat cars, but you are also saying the seats frames themselves are different too? I read the other thread but didn't see how they're different. Are they closer together or something like that? I've worked on seat swaps with both cat and pre-cat cars and as long as I had the right tracks, I never had a problem. Can you shed some more light on the seat frame difference? Thanks Sam
It turned out that the seats I bought were in fact 74 seats so I have never seen a set of seats with the cat style tracks. There are several guys that have both types of seats in their posession so they can help out.
The passenger seat appears to sit at the same level as the drivers seat. If it's not, it's not enough to notice.
Hi sam, look at this picture you'll see that the inner side of the seat is higher than the other and you can compare this one with the other picture post previously in this thread
They will fold if you remove the second bolt back from the front on the side of the seat cushion. It is located under a cover that you have to pry off to get to it, it is a torx head. Dan and I have allready discussed this on another thread.
The seat backs won't lock in position but all the early Mustang seats were like this. Locking seatbacks didn't come out untill I think the early 80s, I can't remember if they were government mandated or not. I don't feel they would be unsafe as long as you were wearing a shoulder belt, you do wear it don't you?
Ok this week end I install the passenger seat and it's not so hard. I take a Big Freakin' Hammer as Matt sugest me and it work I just had to punch a bit between the two hole on the cat hump and take the little spacer on door side the one that look like a bell and place it on the rear bolt of the other side and replace it by a wheel nut and some spacer. the only thing is that I can't bolt where a place the bell looking spacer cause the bolt is too short so i'll be looking to corect it for safety but the seat stay in place very hard. So that's it. I don't had time to install the driver side so I don't know if it will be at the same height but I let you know next week. Thanks to all of you David
Gonna be kinda rough trying to drive sitting on the floor..............at least get a apple crate so you can see out the windshield.......... Late April fools!
yeah I got one for two years but so I'm a little tired of that and now that I've been sitting on my bucket seat I decide to burn the milk box enough is enough
here's two picturea of what it look like with my seat in but I think I don,'t use enough bfh cause the driver seat is lower than passenger one but I cannot pull up the driver seat cause of too short stud on exterior track that is shorter than interior one. As you can see in second picture this is the back of the seat that sit too high so I just have to puch a bit more on cat bump and post pic again I'll let you know David
